Copperleaf

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This giant flower grows up to 7.9 feet (2.4 meters) tall. Its emerald stem is very thick and straight with a curved tip, and the miniature, copper leaves are spear shaped with irregular edges. The leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

5 to 9 large flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 39 cm (15.4 inches) wide, with alternating petals of silver and magenta, with a yellow central disk. The flower head is shaped like a dish with 36 raised, round-tipped petals. They are hardy.

It has a delicate scent that smells like new carpet, and it has an average amount of pollen; it does not cause many allergic reactions. It is pollinated by insects and is particularly attractive to a specific species.

It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
