Coilvine

This huge fruit tree grows up to 55 feet (16.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 57 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in hard, wrinkled, black bark, and inside, the light wood is pale brown-grey.

The extensive patches of branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of small, very narrow and elongated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are white on the sides and indigo at the center.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, turquoise blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like grass cuttings.

In early winter it produces large, needle-like fruit. The rubbery grey skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is sweet and very dry. The beige seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
