Claspvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for around 19 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of stocky, angular stems covered in fine, ridged, dark green bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches are very short and thin with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, broad, flat, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are either bronze or caramel, with black dots, flexible and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-summer it produces lots of small, red blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a mildly strong scent that smells like damp.

In early autumn small circular fruits ripen. The rubbery copper skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft sky blue flesh is sweet and sticky. The orange seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

It aggressively steals nutrients from other large plants (but not each other).
It is difficult to cut through.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
