Blood Red Mushroom Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This short cactus grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall. The wide stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thick bunches of rigid hazel spines. The mushroom-shaped body is blood red, and is covered in handfuls of rigid brown spines.
It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with alternating petals of subtle yellow and magenta, with a hazel central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube with 47 tightly layered, narrow petals. It has an intense scent that smells like fruity.
The cactus's skin is thin, the cream flesh is slimy, and the silver sap is thin.
