Crimson Crescent Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In damp forests.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they spread and grow quickly, and is overwhelmingly rigid.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early winter to release millions of spores.
