Clinging Caramel Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, straight trunk covered in smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the soft wood is yellow.

The branches are short stubs and are covered with copious amounts of huge, long, narrow leaves with wavy edges. The leaves themselves are light blue and bronze.

In early spring, it produces a thick sheet of medium-sized, caramel blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like alcohol.

In early summer it produces , perforated fruit. The smooth ashy green skin is tough and overwhelmingly savoury, and the crunchy lilac flesh is sweet and sticky. The lime seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
