This yellow-green moss is commonly found growing in small clumps In heathlands, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is extremely rigid; it takes a lot of damage when trodden on.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release hundred of spores.

It is almost impossible to grow indoors.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
It comes in 16 varieties, each with a different leaf colour.
