Clinging Silverflower

This small flower grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall. Its silver stem is thick, and the huge, brown leaves are long, narrow with smooth edges. The leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two large flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 8 cm (3.1 inches) wide, with petals that are either turquoise or magenta, with a yellow center. The flower head is made up of many petals in raised layers. They detach easily.

It has an intense scent that smells like vanilla, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
