Aquafruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 30 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in thick, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy-brown.

The small bunches of branches are long and thin and are covered with handfuls of large, wide leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are violet and light green.

In early spring, it produces many small, caramel blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like fruity.

In early winter it produces , perforated fruit. The hairy hazel skin is thick and inedible, and the soft turquoise flesh is salty and very juicy. The brown seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
