Bloodberry Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 47 feet (14.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 78 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a slender, slanted trunk covered in ridged, burgundy bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pine-coloured.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of huge, stiff, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are found in beige and red varieties.

In early spring, it produces many medium-sized, sky blue blossoms with cylindrical petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like skunk spray.

In mid-autumn it produces , oblong fruit. The fuzzy blood red skin is delicate and inedible, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is savoury and very juicy. The faded orange seed is very large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
