Clingvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 124 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has several flexible, wonky stems covered in paper-thin, ridged, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is dark brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of small, slender, pointed, leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are found in green and turquoise varieties, frail and smooth.

In mid-summer it produces thousands of small, grey blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like candle wax.

In early winter circular fruits ripen. The fuzzy hazel skin is delicate and salty and sour, and the slightly crunchy bronze flesh is bitter and powdery. The grey seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

It comes in 72 varieties.
All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
