Copperleaf Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 73 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in wrinkled, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The numerous branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, needle-like leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are grey and azure.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of medium-sized, peach blossoms with needle-like petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like a newborn baby.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, long, curved fruit. The sticky cream skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy vibrant green flesh is sweet and sour and oily. The orange seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
