Crimsonbell
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 82 years. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has several slender, straight stems covered in very thick, smooth, black bark, and the wood inside is white.
The branches trail down towards the ground with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of large, slender, pointed, leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are lime on the sides and crimson at the center, resistant and leathery.
In late spring it produces lots of large, purple blossoms with 5 pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like an ocean breeze.
In early autumn tiny stiff, pointed fruits ripen. The crispy blue skin is stretchy and inedible, and the crunchy lime flesh is bitter and powdery. The gold seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
The sap causes itchiness of the skin
