Copper Shield Moss

This copper moss is commonly found growing in tiny clumps In rainy mountain ranges, On trees, and In rainforests.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they spread and grow quickly, and is very sturdy; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release thousands of spores.
