Chocolate Blossom

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 47 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has numerous knobbly, twisting stems covered in thick, smooth, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches trail down to the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of giant, 3 pointed, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are drab green with gold tips, flexible and leathery.

In mid-spring it produces handfuls of medium-sized, gentle purple flowers with many layers of petals. They detach easily and have an intense scent that smells like chocolate.
