Ancient Redwood

This short tree grows up to 3 meters (9.8 feet) tall and lives for over 2,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 2544 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a sturdy, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, gray bark, and inside, the hard wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are tall, rigid and upright, with thousands of twigs covered with large amounts of tiny, moss green needles. The needles themselves are tough.

In late summer it produces large, red, tough-shelled seeds.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
