Bloodbloom

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 40 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in hard, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is silver.

The sparse amount of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of tiny, broad, flat leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are either dark grey or magenta, with silver patches.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, blood red blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are very delicate and have a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early autumn it produces small, oval fruit. The waxy amber skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy black flesh is sweet and sticky. The florescent yellow seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
