Coniapple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, slanted trunk covered in waxy, dark gray bark, and inside, the dense wood is black.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, thick leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of magenta that gradient shifts to crimson at the top.

In early spring, it produces dozens of giant, black blossoms with long, tapering petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like cheese.

In early autumn it produces , circular fruit. The hairy cyan skin is peel-able and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the soft black flesh is sweet and sour and juicy. The yellow seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
