This orange moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In bogs.
It is massive, growing up to 1.3 feet (38 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is very resistant; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald V-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
