Aquafruit Tree

This giant fruit tree grows up to 62 feet (18.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 70 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, light gray bark, and inside, the soft wood is mahogany-coloured.

The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of tiny, wide leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are dark brown at the bottom and violet with turquoise edges at the top.

In early spring, it produces several medium-sized, azure blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like pepper.

In mid-autumn it produces small, pleated fruit. The soft cream skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft dark blue flesh is sweet and spicy and juicy. The cream seeds are small and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
