Coconut Spice Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 21 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a very thick, crooked trunk covered in delicate, waxy, dark green bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown.

The tangled mess of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with thick bunches of giant, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are either blue, or white with caramel splotches.

In early spring, it produces handfuls of large, hazel blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are sturdy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like coconut.

In mid-summer it produces , pleated fruit. The rubbery white skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft white flesh is sweet and spicy and very juicy. The blood red seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
