This colossal fruit tree grows up to 47 feet (14.3 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 48 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in fine, smooth, light brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale yellow.

The abundance of branches are very long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of huge, wispy leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are blood red on the sides and cyan at the center.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of small, lime blossoms with 5 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a mildly strong scent that smells like chocolate.

In early summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The soft magenta skin is thick and inedible, and the soft blood red flesh is slightly spicy and juicy. The olive seed is tiny and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
