Coilvine

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 57 feet (17.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 26 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, curved trunk covered in thin, ridged, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the dense wood is burgundy.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of small, very thin leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise and amber.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, violet blossoms with 2 teardrop-shaped shaped petals. They fall easily and have a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, perforated fruit. The sticky grey skin is thin and edible when roasted; it is sweet, and the soft dark grey flesh is spicy and sour and powdery. The bronze seeds are tiny and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
