Indigo Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 58 feet (17.7 meters) tall. The thin stem is grey and gray, and is covered in thousands of rigid indigo spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 5 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with hazel petals on the lower layer and crimson petals decorated with white dots on the inner layer. The central disk is crimson grow at the top, reappearing once every 2 years. The flower head is largely flat with dozens of widely spaced round-tipped petals. It has a delicate scent that smells like rotten meat.

The cactus's skin is thin, the cyan flesh is rough, and the green sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.


A particular bird species likes to nest in it.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
Their seeds have hallucinogenic properties.
