Copperleaf

Shrub type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This large shrub grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for around 27 years. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous narrow, curved stems covered in waxy, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is copper-coloured.

The branches trail down across the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of tiny, fan-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid dull green with grey patches, flimsy and crispy.

It produces several medium-sized, violet flowers with slender, pointed petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a powerful scent that smells like paint. In early winter it forms tinycrimson, winged seeds that float and land far away.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
