Copperwind Vine

This big shrub grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 112 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has dozens of wide, angular stems covered in hard, waxy, copper-coloured bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are very short and slender with thousands of twigs that and are covered with thick bunches of miniature, wispy, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are yellow with beige tips, light and frail and covered in fine hairs.

In mid-summer it produces large amounts of giant, lime blossoms with 6 triangular shaped petals. They detach easily and have a strong scent that smells like cotton.

In early autumn small oblong fruits ripen. The waxy blue skin is stretchy and inedible, and the soft indigo flesh is sweet and syrupy. The bronze seed is small and sits at the top of the fruit.
