Pleated Petalpine
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in its leaves)This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its brown stem is thick, and the miniature, muted yellow or ashy purple leaves are pleated with serrated edges. The leaves grow from the base and are the same length as the stem.
6 to 12 giant flowers grow on alternate sides up the length of the stem. The flowers are 5 cm (2.0 inches) wide, with each petal a slightly different shade of peach. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of dozens of widely spaced, round-tipped petals. They are very delicate.
It has a scent whose strength depends on external factors, such as soil quality and rain frequency that smells like pine needles, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to butterflies.
It blooms only at night.
It is suitable for creating tough, hard-wearing textiles
