This yellow-green moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In rainforests, On rotten logs, and In marshes.
It is modest-sized, growing up to 5 inches (13 cm) tall. It forms in sparse patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly resilient; it can easily endure being trodden on.
When mature, emerald oval-shaped capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the mid-summer to release thousands of spores.

It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It grows well in the sun and full shade.
