Clinging Peach Tree

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 68 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in delicate, silky, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pine-coloured.

The large clumps of branches are very long and thick and are covered with large amounts of large, long, narrow leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of moss green that gradient shifts to peach at the top.

In early spring, it produces bunches of medium-sized, beige blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They detach easily and have a faint scent that smells like cheap aftershave.

In early summer it produces , long, curved fruit. The waxy brown skin is thick and inedible, and the soft peach flesh is savoury and sticky. The dark grey seed is very large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
