This orange moss is commonly found growing in large clumps In rainforests, In marshes, and In moorlands.
It is small, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly flimsy; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release thousands of spores.
