Climbing Amberpine

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 27 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a stocky, curved trunk covered in fine, cracked, black with white speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is pale yellow.

The branches are very short and thick and are covered with thick bunches of small, thin leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are amber on the edges and lilac at the center.

In early spring, it produces several large, amber blossoms with 3 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like baby powder.

In early summer it produces , triangular fruit. The fuzzy grey skin is delicate and inedible, and the crunchy light brown flesh is salty and sour and oily. The yellow seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.

It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
