Bleachberry

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 112 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous sturdy, straight stems covered in smooth, brown-green bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with handfuls of large, finger-like, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid purple or green, with blue dots, rigid and sticky.

In early spring it produces copious amounts of small, intense orange flowers with 7 kidney-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like bleach.
