Burgundy Hazel

Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This average-sized tree grows up to 7 meters (23.0 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 102 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a very thick, curved trunk covered in delicate, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the flexible wood is silver.

The sparse amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with copious amounts of soft, large, slender, pointed leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are hazel and red.

In late summer it forms giant, orange, spiky-shelled seeds.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for use as a construction material
