Copper Spine Cactus

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This short cactus grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall. It splits at the base to form 4 needle-like stems. Each stem is copper, and is covered in many flexible drab yellow spines. The mushroom-shaped body is yellow-green, and is covered in many rigid light brown spines.

It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, a handful of flowers, with brown petals and an amber central disk, grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of 31 curved petals. It has a weak scent that smells like misty mornings.

The cactus's skin is thin, the pale blue flesh is rough, and the vivid orange sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.

It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
Ivy often grows along the trunk.
All parts of the fruit tree are edible.
