Copper Shield Moss

This copper moss is commonly found blanketing small areas On rotten logs.
It is huge, growing up to 1.5 feet (46 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is extremely tough; it can easily endure flooding and draughts.
When mature, emerald shield-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early summer to release thousands of spores; it can cause allergic reactions.
