This orange moss is commonly found blanketing medium-sized areas In marshes, and In rainy mountain ranges.
It is short, growing up to 3 inches (8 cm) tall. It forms in thin clumps and they are exceptionally hardy, and is overwhelmingly delicate; it struggles more than most during dry spells.
When mature, emerald triangular capsules grow at the end of long, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

Once on fire, it burns very quickly.
The pollen is overwhelmingly toxic to people but not to certain animals.
It is suitable for making paper
