Clinging Caramelvine

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This big shrub grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 100 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many wide, straight stems covered in hard, wrinkled, dark gray bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are short, rigid and upright with hundreds of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, circular, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are caramel on the edges and aquamarine at the center, light and smooth.

In early summer it produces thousands of medium-sized, beige flowers with cylindrical petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like a woman.


It is suitable for use as a construction material
The sap causes severe allergic reactions.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
