This intense orange or olive moss is commonly found blanketing large areas In rainy mountain ranges.
It is average-sized, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is slightly frail; it burns easily in strong sunlight.
When mature, emerald cylindrical capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release thousands of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
