Blueleaf Peach

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This small fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 10 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, knobbly, brown and grey bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.

The small bunches of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with handfuls of tiny, asymmetrical leaves with toothed edges. The leaves themselves are generally sky blue.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, peach blossoms with sickle shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like lavender.

In mid-summer it produces small, slender, 9 pointed fruit. The hairy drab blue skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is salty, and the very soft pink flesh is sweet and very juicy. The blood red seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with patches of undergrowth between them.

Several parts of the caudiciform have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
