Coniapple Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This large fruit tree grows up to 38 feet (11.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 25 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, angular trunk covered in paper-thin, silky, silver bark, and inside, the hard wood is dark brown.

The abundance of branches are short stubs and are covered with small bunches of giant, circular leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are generally magenta.

In early spring, it produces thousands of small, slate blossoms with fan-like petals. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like sweat.

In mid-summer it produces tiny, long, straight fruit. The rough caramel skin is delicate and edible when boiled; it is slightly sour, and the slightly crunchy pale green flesh is bitter and oily. The lime seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
