Clinging Silverfruit

This small fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a slender, straight trunk covered in cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is gray.

The sparse amount of branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with very large amounts of small, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are slate and peach.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, faded purple blossoms with flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like alcohol.

In mid-autumn it produces , cuboid fruit. The rough ashy yellow skin is stretchy and inedible, and the very soft purple flesh is spicy and salty and syrupy. The crimson seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with grassy ground between them.
