Bloodwood Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This average-sized tree grows up to 15 meters (49.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 601 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a very thick, straight trunk covered in cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is pale brown.
The branches trail down to the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of smooth, giant, circular leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either grey, or pink with red dots.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, blood red, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
It usually houses a colony of beneficial insects.
It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
