Amber Spine Succulent

This small caudiciform grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall. The finger-like stem is yellow-green, and is covered in dozens of flexible olive spines. The very thick, light red trunk can grow to as much as 11 feet (3.4 meters) in diameter. Its gray branches are very short and slender.

The toothed-edged, very thin leaves are lilac on the edges and amber at the center. They are resilient, and are very difficult to pull away.

It is fast growing, taking 2 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are either dull blue or cream, with a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is made up of 10 petals in raised layers. It has a mildly strong scent that smells like varnish.

The caudiciform's skin is thin, the yellow flesh is sticky, and the black sap is thin and causes upset stomachs if consumed.
