This caramel or brilliant orange moss is commonly found blanketing tiny areas In bogs, and In rainforests.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in small clumps, and is overwhelmingly flexible.
When mature, emerald kidney-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late summer to release hundred of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.

The colour changes depends on whether the soil is acidic or alkaline.
It is slightly resistant to fire damage.
Several parts of the leaf succulent have medicinal properties.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
