Clinging Lilac

This modest-sized shrub grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 148 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has numerous branched, straight stems covered in very thick, waxy, dark green bark, and the wood inside is pale brown.

The branches trail down to the ground that and are covered with small bunches of miniature, wide, leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are either subtle blue or brown, with lilac streaks, delicate and covered in fine hairs.

It produces thick bunches of large, light red flowers with 2 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like glue. In early winter it forms smallwhite, winged seeds that float and land far away.
