Coniapple
Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short fruit tree grows up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in fine, cracked, brown and grey bark, and inside, the very hard wood is pale brown-grey.
The numerous branches are long and thin and are covered with thick bunches of giant, pleated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are crimson and hazel.
In early spring, it produces balls of large, light grey blossoms with needle-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a delicate scent that smells like grass cuttings.
In mid-summer it produces tiny, oblong fruit. The rough caramel skin is peel-able and inedible, and the soft peach flesh is spicy and powdery. The orange seeds are large and are bunched at the top of the fruit.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
