Silverleaf Violet?
Shrub type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)This modest-sized shrub grows up to 3 feet (91.4 cm) tall and lives for around 49 years. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has numerous narrow, wavy stems covered in ridged, silver bark, and the wood inside is gray.
The branches are short, rigid and upright with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, sickle shaped, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in violet and pink varieties, strong and flexible and fuzzy.
In late spring it produces lots of tiny, black blossoms with V-shaped shaped petals. They detach easily and have a powerful scent that smells like citrus.
In late winter tiny finger-like fruits ripen. The rubbery slate skin is thick and edible when roasted; it is sweet and spicy, and the crunchy ashy orange flesh is savoury and syrupy. The silver seed is large and sits at the top of the fruit.
It is often home to a particular bird species.
