Bogfire Moss

This green moss is commonly found growing in giant clumps In bogs, In marshes, and In heathlands.
It is short, growing up to 1 inch (3 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches and they overwhelm an area rapidly, and is extremely strong.
When mature, emerald flame-shaped capsules grow at the end of short, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the early autumn to release dozens of spores; it does not cause many allergic reactions.
