Coniapple

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 40 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, cracked, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the light wood is gray.

The tangled mess of branches are long and thick and are covered with handfuls of tiny, fan-like leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are solid slate with orange patches.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of tiny, slate blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a soft scent that smells like pot-purri.

In early summer it produces small, perforated fruit. The hairy aquamarine skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy silver flesh is spicy and juicy. The silver seeds are small and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
