Burgundy Needlebush

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 86 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many stocky, straight stems covered in wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and the wood inside is light brown.

The branches are very short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of large, needle-like, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of pink-red that gradient shifts to hazel at the top, sturdy and covered in fine hairs.

It produces hundreds of medium-sized, black flowers with 7 oval-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have no scent. In early summer it forms giantorange, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.


It is suitable for making strong rope
It only grows on the most fertile lands.
